Giuseppe came from a small town called Torella dei Lombardi, which is located near Naples, in the province of Avellino, Italy. Giuseppe always had a passion for cooking, but it was actually in the Ita...lian army that he was trained to be a chief. When he came to the United States, in 1971, he worked in Belleville, NJ at Pete’s Pizzeria as a cook and pizza man, and that’s where he also met his wife, Maria.
Five years later, Giuseppe, with his two friends, Michael and Gerard Scottos, opened a pizzeria, located in the heart of Chester. Originally, it was called “Scotto’s Pizzeria”, but in 1986, Giuseppe and his brother-in-law, Michail Iannaco, decided to take over the business. That is when Scotto’s Pizzeria was changed to “Giuseppe’s Trattoria”.
Giuseppe loves cooking and seeing people enjoying his cooking. Giuseppe prides himself on his foods’ freshness and authentic Italian flavors!
Giuseppe belongs to the “Federation of Italian American Society” of NJ. Each year, Giuseppe and his fellow club officers have several fundraisers, such as Dinner Dances and Bus Trips. These fundraisers help the club grant scholarships to college students. The funds also allow the club to host the Carabinieri, Italian police officiers, from his home town, to come for the Columbus Day Parade in NY. Not only is Giuseppe proud of his own accomplishments, but the Mayor from Torella dei Lombardi, is equally as proud of him. In 2009, the people of Torella dei Lombardi presented him with a Recognition Certificate, which he proudly displays in his restaurant.
Giuseppe loves to talk to people and know that they love his cooking. His famous words are “Un saluto dalla mia famiglia alla vostra con amore.”
(Greetings from my family to yours with love.)Buon Appetito!
